Network HR have partnered on an exclusive basis with a phenomenal global Brokerage firm for the hire of a permanent Employment Lawyer. The successful Employment Lawyer will work with a highly successful and dynamic workforce and will report into the Senior Employment Counsel across London and their managed businesses across EMEA. This opportunity will give provide you with the exposure across specific HR and Employment law matters and additional complex work. Other responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting with all employment issues including investigations, disciplinary, grievance and performance related matters.
  • Drafting employment contracts, variations, remuneration and termination documentation.
  • Provide day-to-day support to HR in handling, often confidential and sensitive, issues as they arise. Reviewing internal policies and procedures and updating the HR team with legal changes. Participating in HR projects and training where needed.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with individuals and critical teams within the organisation such as Compliance, Finance, Audit and Risk.
  • Liaising with external legal counsel on approaches to employment law disputes, assessing advice received and tailoring to the business and its entities.
  • Managing relevant internal stakeholders and providing accurate and timely updates regarding the status of disputes.
  • Providing advice and guidance on employment related regulatory issues affecting staff.
  • Assist with non-employment contentious matters (with external support) across the business as they arise.
 
The business are looking for a confident ‘team player’, who enjoys a challenge, and wants to work in a fast moving and fluid environment operating at the forefront of employment law within a regulated financial services framework. The role covers a number of EMEA countries. As such, excellent communication skills, and a flexible work approach is needed when working with colleagues with diverse backgrounds.
What will you need:
  • 1 to 3 years Post Qualification Experience at a well-regarded Private Practice firm or In-House department (either in a permanent role or on secondment). Ideally, with exposure to financial services.
  • Previous experience of complex Employment Tribunal litigation (i.e., including whistleblowing and discrimination).
  • Exposure to High Court litigation (breach of contract, confidentiality and post termination restrictions matters) ideal but not essential.
  • Experience drafting and advising on employment contracts and all forms of atypical working arrangements.
  • Previous experience on advising on a wide variety of employee relations issues and terminations.
  • Knowledge of Employment laws jurisdictions outside of the UK is beneficial but not essential.
