Yard Operative – Service & Parts Support

Location: Mildenhall | April 2026

Our client, a well-established organisation operating within the engineering and equipment services sector, is currently seeking a reliable and proactive Yard Operative to support operations at their busy Mildenhall depot.
This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced environment, offering an excellent opportunity for an individual who takes pride in maintaining high operational standards and contributing to an efficient service function.

The Opportunity Working as part of a collaborative depot team, you will play a key role in supporting service engineers, managing stock movements, and ensuring the yard and workshop areas operate smoothly and safely. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied role combining physical work, organisation, and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day running of the yard, ensuring a clean, safe, and well-organised environment
  • Load and unload equipment and palletised goods, checking deliveries against purchase orders
  • Assist with stock handling, including picking parts for workshop and service requirements
  • Monitor consumables and highlight low stock levels to the relevant teams
  • Prepare machinery for service and repair, including washing and basic checks
  • Carry out machine arrival inspections and periodic stock checks in line with requirements
  • Assist with general depot maintenance and upkeep
  • Support the delivery of parts and equipment to customers and sites when required
  • Complete daily job reports and timesheets using internal systems
  • Adhere to all SHEQ and ISO compliance standards

Key requirements include:
  • Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or depot environment (preferred)
  • Strong work ethic with a hands-on, can-do attitude
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required
  • Basic IT skills for reporting and data entry
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and task management
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred or required depending on duties)
