HSE Recruitment are working with a manufacturing business in Wednesbury to help them find a Health and Safety Manager. It’s a fantastic time to join this business following a period of transition and growth. As this continues, you can shape health and safety and progress in a role which offers full ownership of safety.

 
AFR rates are good and the business have very few accidents but with the amount of change, the increase in production, increased headcount, more agency workers etc. things could slip, so it’s about being mindful of that. This is going to be a very hands on, operational role. As the sole person in H&S you will managing ISO 45001, chair the monthly H&S meetings, do inductions and tool box talks, review risk assessments, SSOW and SOPs. You will do the twice annual COSHH reviews and present twice years the H&S stats to the management team.
 

Responsibilities include:
  • Maintain a high level of awareness in legislation and advise employee and managers accordingly.
  • Actively drive world class manufacturing
  • Ensure documentation is controlled as per the HSE system.
  • Monitor compliance with company policies, OH&S Management System and procedures.
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are correctly reported and investigated in accordance with company policies and procedure.
  • Responsible for safe systems of work and procedure’s during the manufacturing stages, and that all health and safety issues are considered and adhered to.
  • Undertake internal audits and produce reports from findings.
  • Ensure all production and maintenance activities are performed in accordance with compliance and legal requirements.
  • Produce 6 monthly reports for management review of all data and trends analysis.
  • Work with all employees as necessary to achieve key performance indicators and programmes.
  • Support onboarding of new employees and provide them with inductions and orientation of OH&S.
  • Be an organisational representative in it’s dealings with external bodies/authorities.
 
Person-
  • A good generalist H&S professional - suitable for an established Health & Safety Manager or a Health & Safety Advisor stepping up.
  • Someone engaging and able to communicate at all levels.
  • Be a hands-on operational leader, visible on the shop floor.
  • Confident, firm and able to push back in the right way when needed.
  • NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum.
  • Manufacturing experience essential.
  • ISO 45001 Lead auditor.
